The amount of metal has to be negligible. They're in bloodstreams. Same with circuitry. There a way to swap them to an external source while they're still in someone's body?
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Really wish I could say that's the most disturbing question I've ever had to ask.
I believe you. But I don't have any leads and there's another Green missing, one of my Greens, and everything I see is more disturbing.

The CDC has more enemies than Gliese can name, more than she can narrow down when it comes to who could attack the Ajna base camp, and they don't have procedures for when they're infiltrated/attacked?
[He can't finish the thought, that this could be another test. He's lost someone, likely, and it's clear either Isaac or Isabelle had been important to Noh. All mentioning that possibility could do is hurt Noh.]
[ The thought has occured to him, too. He hasn't been explicitly told Ajna was a training-wheels mission, but he's guessed some, between the slowly increasing difficulty of the encounters to the freakishly specific and conveniently accessible final drop equipment. Still, something tells him this is more than it seems. ]

What procedures would you like them to have? Put us all on lockdown? They're hunting as we are. Any countermeasures will likely go into effect once we've caught what's causing this.
Surveillance that's actually effective. Where's the footage of the container when it got burst open? A way to lock down areas of the ship and flush out what's lurking.

Redundancies. Our cuffs can track us. Why are the cuffs of the missing not telling us where they are?

Communication with Selena. We got the crate and the new kids from there, right? Resupply port. So it's not just a breakdown on the Neheda's end, there's a breakdown on Selena's end.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
And while I'm wishing for too much, why is there a head of security and no actual security efforts that I've seen except for Green? Shouldn't she have a team?
[Garrus swallows before nodding. He doesn't know what Noh-Varr said, but he can guess.]
This is what you want?
[He reaches out to touch Noh's jaw.]
Without interference?
[What he's speaking is a language none here would understand - not the Council trade tongue, but his own clan's turian, rarely used anywhere off Palaven, rarely even used anywhere outside of Cipritine.]
[ Clicks and chirps and alveolar trills--Garrus' language is very foreign indeed, but it sounds so much more natural than the awkward Kree his earpiece gives him.
Reaching up, he cups Garrus' face, careful not to interfere with the movement of the mandibles. Kissing the Turian's chin, he makes to lead them to the bed. ]
One day, I'd like to know what you're saying. You could teach me.
[ He's talking just to talk; Kree is melodious and pleasing to the ear, but also contains many guttural sounds, not unlike Arabic. ]
Come here, lovely creature. Let me embrace you.
[ He wraps his arms around Garrus' neck and pulls him down. There's not much need for words, where they're going. ]
[Garrus chuckles as he tries out one of the sounds Noh's making. Some of the sounds he's heard humans make he simply can't, but the ones in the back of his throat he's got. Or, at least, he can try to imitate them as he's kissed.]
That sounds pretty hot, gotta say. Not like you can understand a word I'm saying.
[He's followed Noh to the bed and is all too happy to be pulled down. Noh gets a forehead press as Garrus' hands move over the Kree.]
I like you, you know. Really like you. Kinda scares me.
[His subharmonics dip low but they're not entirely steady. There's desire and a little nervousness there. Garrus knows he couldn't say this if they had their translators in, knows that it's risky, and doesn't even really know why he's saying it now. There's no real point. Noh won't understand the words. But maybe having it out there, cloaked as it is, will lessen some of the pressure he feels in his chest.]
Had a lot go wrong, know how easily this could go wrong. But here I am. I want this. I want you. For however long I can get.

Taking a mental step back. You're the guy who knows nanites. Can they be reused? Is there a reason for extracting them that wouldn't be eating?
[In other words, trying to get ground back under his feet again.]
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Never dealt with them back home. Don't even know what they're doing in most of us. I mean, they don't heal the way yours do.
holy comic book science, batman
Nanites normally become inactive when their host becomes 'inactive', as they're usually powered by electrical output from the nervous system.
FROM: varr.noh@cdc.org
As robots, they're not very effective post-mortem, unless they're being controlled by an external source.
FROM: varr.noh@cdc.org
But they can be recycled for their metal, I suppose, or their circuitry, like any other piece of tech.
yep...

Spirits. I'm sorry, Noh-Varr.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
I don't know if it's relevant or not. I do know I don't wanna drag up things that'll hurt if you don't want them brought up. Should I drop this?

It's all right. The man who did it died very slowly.

What I'm trying to say is, we have no proof of any of this. Idle speculation gets us nowhere without more clues.

Already started asking one of them, was gonna follow up with more when I had an answer. But I'm getting silence.
